All the players in the game have a certain number of lives. When you lose them all due to too many missed balls, you are out of the game. However, losing lives doesn't mean that it's all over, because of the special condition introduced in the game.
Each time someone is knocked out, everyone gets another chance to live. Therefore, even getting knocked out may not be a problem because you will have an opportunity to keep playing and beat your opponents.
