Catdoku transforms an ordinary arrangement of colorful squares into an intellectual puzzle game. The player’s objective is not to populate all the cells on the grid but to establish the correct positions of the cats. Having a set of rules similar to those of Sudoku and Minesweeper, the game requires thorough contemplation instead of instant reaction. Each step in the game should be done after careful consideration.

At the beginning of the game, everything appears to be clear for a player. Nevertheless, several limitations have to be taken into account simultaneously. Only one cat per row, one cat per column, and one cat per color are allowed to be placed. The cats are not supposed to crowd, and thus no two cats can be next to each other vertically, horizontally, or diagonally.
You do not have to guess the solution at once. Instead, place X marks in the cells that cannot be correct. A cell becomes inappropriate due to the presence of another cat in its row, column, or color sector, or because it will cause touching of two cats.
The hint system is the core element of Catdoku. The more X marks you make, the better the chances of finding the right possibilities.
When you decide on a particular place, double-click on the cell to add a cat. However, it should be done carefully since mistakes will lead to losing fish. Instead of making guesses, try to study the surroundings of the cell.
In case you get stuck, hints will be helpful to advance in the game.
Catdoku consists of cute kitties and a minimalist design with nice animation. The easier boards make for a good start, while harder ones require more complicated deductive reasoning.
